K8s Multi Cluster Management for GPU Clouds

Struggling to manage multiple Kubernetes clusters across regions and tenants? vCluster virtualizes the K8s control plane so every tenant gets a fully isolated, CNCF-certified cluster without provisioning separate physical infrastructure.

Problem

Why K8s Multi Cluster Management Breaks Down

Traditional approaches force painful tradeoffs between isolation, cost, and operational scale.

Namespace Isolation Is Too Weak

Tenants can see cluster-wide agents and other tenants' resources. Namespace isolation is too weak for real GPU workloads.

Separate Clusters Are Too Expensive

Provisioning a physical cluster per tenant is too slow, too costly, and operationally unsustainable at scale.

Fleet Operations Become Unmanageable

Dozens of clusters across regions and clouds means fragmented visibility, inconsistent policies, and mounting maintenance overhead.

Solution

One Platform for K8s Multi Cluster Management

vCluster Platform virtualizes the Kubernetes control plane itself. Every tenant gets a real K8s API server, etcd, and RBAC as a lightweight pod — not a physical cluster, not a namespace. Manage hundreds of isolated tenant clusters from a single control plane, proven across 100K+ GPU nodes and 50+ GPU clouds.

Built for Scale Across Every Cluster

From isolated tenant control planes to fleet-wide Day 2 operations, vCluster handles the full k8s multi cluster management lifecycle.

Tenant Isolation

Isolated Control Planes Per Tenant

Each tenant cluster runs its own API server, etcd, and scheduler as a lightweight pod inside the host cluster. Spin up hundreds of fully isolated Kubernetes environments in seconds with near-zero marginal cost per tenant.

  • Own API server and etcd per tenant
  • Seconds to provision each cluster
  • No physical cluster overhead
Platform Operations

Central Fleet Management at Scale

Manage all tenant clusters from a single UI, CLI, and API. Enforce SSO, quotas, and templates consistently across every cluster in your fleet — regardless of region or cloud.

  • Unified UI, CLI, and API
  • SSO, quotas, and templates built in
  • Control across regions and clouds
Reliability

Day 2 Operations Across All Clusters

Built-in observability, updates, backups, disaster recovery, and compliance management across your entire cluster fleet. No bespoke tooling required to keep hundreds of tenant clusters healthy and compliant.

  • Built-in observability and backups
  • Automated updates across the fleet
  • Disaster recovery and compliance tools
Distributed Infrastructure

Multi-Region Multi-Cloud Control Plane

Run a single central control plane that spans multiple clouds and data centers. Enforce consistent policies and tenant isolation across every region without duplicating management infrastructure.

  • Single control plane across regions
  • Consistent policies everywhere
  • No per-region management silos
Standards Compliance

CNCF-Certified K8s Per Tenant

Every tenant cluster is a fully conformant, CNCF-certified Kubernetes distribution — 100% API compatibility guaranteed. Tenants use standard tooling without modification, eliminating compatibility risk across your fleet.

  • 100% K8s API compatibility
  • CNCF-certified per tenant cluster
  • Standard tooling works out of the box

FAQs

How is vCluster different from traditional k8s multi cluster management tools?

Traditional k8s multi cluster management tools manage fleets of physical clusters that already exist. vCluster goes a step further by virtualizing the Kubernetes control plane itself — each tenant gets a real API server, etcd, scheduler, and RBAC running as a lightweight pod inside a shared host cluster. This means you provision isolated tenant clusters in seconds without the cost or complexity of spinning up separate physical infrastructure, while retaining full fleet management across all environments.

Does each tenant get a real Kubernetes cluster or just a namespace?

Each tenant gets a fully isolated, CNCF-certified Kubernetes cluster with its own API server, etcd, scheduler, and RBAC. This is not namespace-level partitioning. Tenants have cluster-admin within their environment, can install their own CRDs, and manage their own resources — completely independent from other tenants and from the host cluster.

How does vCluster handle multi-region and multi-cloud cluster management?

vCluster Platform provides a central control plane that spans multiple clouds and data centers. You manage all tenant clusters — regardless of where they run — through a single UI, CLI, and API. Consistent SSO, quotas, templates, and policies apply across every region, eliminating the operational fragmentation that comes with managing isolated per-region cluster fleets.

What isolation options are available for tenant workloads?

vCluster provides a flexible isolation spectrum: shared nodes with resource quotas, private nodes where tenants get fully dedicated physical hardware with their own CNI and CSI, and dedicated nodes that eliminate noisy-neighbor GPU contention. For deeper workload isolation, vNode (currently in private beta) adds kernel-native security using seccomp, cgroups, namespaces, and AppArmor — without introducing VM overhead or sacrificing GPU performance.

Is vCluster production-proven for GPU environments at scale?

Yes. vCluster currently powers 100K+ GPU nodes and 1M+ CPU nodes in production across 50+ GPU clouds and Fortune 500 customers including CoreWeave and Nscale. It is named in the NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD reference architecture. Boost Run launched a managed Kubernetes offering in fewer than 45 days using vCluster, and Lintasarta launched Indonesia's leading GPU cloud in 90 days with 170+ tenant clusters.

Can vCluster integrate with GitOps and IaC workflows for cluster provisioning?

Yes. vCluster Platform integrates natively with Terraform, Argo CD, CI/CD pipelines, and self-service portals. Platform teams can provision, configure, and lifecycle-manage tenant clusters entirely through code. This makes k8s multi cluster management fully automatable — new tenant environments can be created programmatically without manual intervention from platform engineering.
